This is my extensive portfolio of projects created in Web Development 10 over the course of the year. We covered a wide variety of topics such as Mail Chimp email campaigns for each holiday, NHL Statistics, Google Calendar, Trinket coding, and using OBS.
Mail Chimp Campaigns
These projects utilized a variety of my skills such as using the application Mail Chimp to create campaigns for several holidays. Additionally, the art pictured in the campaigns I created with the help of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Most of the imagery are combinations of layered curated images that fit the themes. In total, I created 4 campaigns for separate holidays which were Truth and Reconciliation Day, Halloween, Remembrance Day, and Easter. Lastly, I embedded these campaigns below within the website.
NHL Statistics
This graph represents my NHL Stats point predictions for players throughout the season and the accuracy that I achieved. To generate accurate predictions, we utilized the points from the previous season and averaged them out per game. To check how far off our predictions were we used API to gather the points that were accurate and found the difference between predicted points and real points. This project helped us develop skills in spreadsheets, using functions such as import json, and use new programs such as API.
Google Calendar
To create this Google Calendar, I transferred my class schedule from WolfNet directly to be able to directly sync my classes without having to do it manually. This allowed me to sync school assignments, events, and class schedules to my personal calendar to help to organize my life more effectively. Oftentimes, it’s difficult managing two separate aspects of my life, social and academic but by developing these skills in Google Calendar I can do both while simultaneously keeping others such as my friends and parents updated on what’s going on through shared events.
Python in Trinket
Within the course, I used the Python application on the platform Trinket to be able to create an interactive, playable game. I chose for my game to be traditional rock, paper, scissors where the computer would regenerate its answer each time. The game works after putting in your move and then revealing the computer’s move and displaying the result, win, lose or tie. This project was a great introduction to basic coding for me and helped me administer these skills into a project.
Adobe Illustrator
The application of Adobe Illustrator truly allows you to unleash your creativity. Depicted below, I created a Christmas scene inspired by the show South Park by simply placing a variety of shapes together and layering them. The project was quite fun to create and the program allows you to create a variety of different art using tools in Illustrator.
