From slashers, psychos, classics and creepy hotels here are the top seven must watch horror movies of the year.

1. The Conjuring (2013) 

The movie was set in the ’70s, and paranormal activity searchers Ed and Lorraine visit a family that is being terrorized in their home by a dark presence.  

2- Blair Witch Project(1999)

 The story follows three student filmmakers—Heather Donahue, Michael C. Williams, and Joshua Leonard—who hike into the Black Hills near Burkittsville, Maryland, in 1994 to film a documentary about a local legend known as the Blair Witch.  

3. Us (2019)

Accompanied by her husband, son and daughter, Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, the family is horrified to learn that each attacker takes the appearance of one of them.

4. Hereditary (2018)

When the matriarch of the Graham family passes away, her daughter and grandchildren begin to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry, trying to outrun the sinister fate they have inherited.

5. Midsommar (2019)

A couple travel to Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown for its fabled midsummer festival, but what begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.

6. The Shinning (1980)

A family lives in an isolated hotel when Jack Torrance has writer’s block. However, as the days go by and Jack hasn’t wrote anything, but his demeanour becomes more and more disturbing.

7. Ma (2019)

This movie follows a group of teenagers that befriend a middle aged woman.

8. Incident in a Ghost Land (2018)

When a mother and a daughters move into a new home and state to start a new life. However, after recently moving in, a horrifying break-in occurs that flips their life upside down.

9. Misery (1990)

After a serious car crash, novelist Paul Sheldon is rescued by former nurse Annie Wilkes, who claims to be his biggest fan. Annie brings him to her remote cabin to recover, where her obsession takes a dark turn when she discovers Sheldon is killing off her favorite character from his novels. As Sheldon devises plans for escape, Annie grows increasingly controlling, even violent, as she forces the author to shape his writing to suit her twisted fantasies

10. Old (2021)

a group of people who find themselves aging rapidly on a secluded beach. Shyamalan decided to adapt Sandcastle into a film after receiving it as a Father’s Day gift in 2017.
